| The wet spring hurt the chances of the I states for making up for the northern belts losses. Let's say you have 100 acres and you loose five to drown outs, then you have another 10 acres that survived but production is cut in half. That means that the 85 good acres have to average 265 to get to APH which is probably doable. However, you're not asking them to get to APH, you need them to make up for the flooded acres up north and the other problem areas. The laws of diminishing returns start to kick in. You're also asking them to reach for higher yields in a market where it doesn't pay to chase those bushels. | |
