Subject: RE: Flooding on the little sioux

Cherokee County, Northwest Iowa
A friend of mine, who served on the Flood Control Committee here in Cherokee for a long time, before they handed that job off to the County Emergency director, so he knows his stuff, built a warehouse shed decades ago, one foot about the 100 year flood level. He never has had water in the building until now, estimated at 20 inches of water, so that figures out to be approximately 32 inches = 2.7 feet about the supposedly 100 year flood level. TV has been saying that we crested here in Cherokee 24 hours ago, lots of people around here aren't buying that.

All the river level moniters north of us have been washed away, so no way to get current flood level readings. Hwy 59 south bridge here in town, even the entire roadway of the bridge is under water.
