The fastest but most stressful would be to go through Chicago as you are in southern Wisconsin. The Badger ferry is a nice easy way to cross but it is slow and only once a day. You would still have driving on each end. 

I don’t know anything about the fast ferry out of Milwaukee but that could be an option also. 

Being it is the Forth of July traffic in Chicago may not be that bad.
