Highland Center, in Southeast Iowa

proudpapa - 6/24/2024 16:41 Two months ago we were blind sidded by my mom having some memory issues. After doctors visits and some instructions for the medical staff we took the only course of action available to us and placed mom in a nursing home with memory care. Mom is very physically fit some visits she is confused but always tells me to get her out of there. Yesterday there wasn't hardly any confusion at all and she demanded answers and told me she didn't care what I had to do but get her out of there. About a week before she went in she got to hallucinating so bad I called her an ambulance. This is one of the most gut wrenching things I have been through. Do I bring her home or keep letting her think her family has dumped her some where she doesn't want to be. I know no one can answer my question just needing to vent. Thanks

I'm gonna sound a little off the wall here, so bear with me. Ask that they put her on an antibiotic specific to the most common cause of UTI in their experience. I say this because I've been thru similar w/my mother in the past year prior to her passing.  They would culture her urine and nothing would grow out to indicate a UTI so they wouldn't medicate/treat.  No actual UTI symptoms other than the mental acuity situation. The antibiotic would clear whatever was going on, and she'd recover well. When not treated, the UTI would continue to cause issues and she'd only get more confused and demented. If you'd like further details of what we experienced, PM me at r c b a y l i s s f a r m @ g m a i l . c o m.  (I'm paranoid now about my email being openly accessible. Thanks, NAT!!  LOL!
