S Illinois | China spent two years buying as little US soybeans as they possibly could. 18/19 and 19/20 were terrible export years for US soybean on the order of 500 mln(edit) less than the years before and after. China was using all alternative sources to backfill their US purchase gap. They came to the negotiating table knowing what they needed to buy and bought it making it look like some great volume purchase when it reality it was just back to what they were buying before. Not sure where this idea comes from that they were buying huge quantities.
