Been thinking about buying a higher hr tmr tractor from a larger dairy for bailing and hauling manure for myself. I'd say in the range of 11-13k hrs on a 7-10 year old tractor. besides a lot of pto time is running a tmr really that hard on tractors? I couldn't imagine the transmission taking a beating and the motor itself most likely has a lot of idle time on it. For what some of these tractors sell for is it worth the risk vs finding one off a row crop farm and paying quite a bit more?
I feel tempted by cheap high hour tractors sometimes, but when I figure the $/hour to buy into a lower hour tractor, the temptation goes away. Figure the price difference and the hours difference, and then ask yourself if you would rent your low hour tractor to be on a TMR for that price.
