Subject: Bred Heifers on Cornstalks

Buying bred heifers this fall, they will spend the winter on cornstalks in MI.

For those that graze stalks, with bred heifers specifically what kind of supplement do you feed?

I’ve read the DDG info/results from UNL. But am wondering if anyone has actually had success with stalks, DDGs, mineral? Or if some sort of commodity mix, or lick tub would be a better suited supplement?

They’ll be getting good grass hay when the snows too deep or the cornstalks are gone.

Appreciate any advice!
