West Central MN (between MMF and Larson's) | Edibles are a boom/bust crop. 2 years ago was our best crop. Last year’s drought in our small region was not a train wreck but was our worst crop of the 4 we grow.
Lots of folks with grand ideas have jumped in recently. That usually results in a production overhang and poor prices.
Time will tell, production will not be huge due to wet feet being something that will not be kind to edibles.
We will only place them on certain fields and even then that’s still a challenge in a wet year.
Ours get trucked to a TEPAP buddy a couple hours away.
3-7 cents a pound better price than locally can pay for a few miles of trucking. |
