I read post after post about serious crop problems and I'm sure the vast majority are true. Then I check the market and the CBOT is lower. Sometimes sharply lower. It is becoming totally disconnected from the cash market. What is the trade looking at that makes it confident enough to continue to push lower? It takes a lot of good areas to offset any amount of zero areas. Some places with 260bu potential raise that much almost every year so don't count on them bringing up the average. There is obviously a lot more going on with the trade than potential crop size.
Markets would be completely different without government involvement.
Traders know to trade off of USDA numbers. Just the way it is. Obviously I don’t like it but gets defended on here a lot. Go figure.
Countdown is on!
