northeastern Ohio | What do you guys think the best fan layout is for a 4 row freestall barn with center drive through? 100x300. In my old 4 row barn (90x150) I had twelve 48" fans mounted above the freestalls blowing crossways with a slight angle down. One row of 6 was blowing towards the first feed alley headlocks. The second row of 6 was blowing toward the freestall alley. It gave a good cross breeze and the cows seemed comfortable with no bunching. The one downside was it did dry out the feed quickly. I don't see many barns laid out with the fans blowing crossways, but I thought it was a simple way to do it. Here is a pic of our new barn before the cows. Been in here for 7 months with no fans and the cows seem to like to stay at the west end more than the east (prevailing wind is southwest). Need to decide on fans soon
