Subject: Plant oats and cowpeas in July...

Northeast Missouri
Back when rain was keeping us out of the field, I had a brief window and roughed in (disk triticale stubble once, then plant) some cowpeas + german millet.

Got light rain right after planting so I thought I'd be good to go. But this is on droughty ground and it turned dry....and everything stood still except waterhemp.

So today I did light tillage to kill it all, thinking I can plant oats in a week or two--after we get enough rain for good germination.

I can just plant oats to take off as baleage later, but what about adding cowpeas along with oats? Will they mature too early so they'd be dry by the time I make oat baleage?
