How much wrenching do farmers really do per season on these newer combines? We have 3 old Masseys 750-860s , only run a few hundred acres a year through them but don't really have to do a lot of wrenching normally.
We used to have L2 gleaners back in the day that would be pretty equivalent to your masseys, if you haven't been around these large combines, you really won't understand the massive amount of material that goes through these newer machines with a feederhouse comparable in size to many of those 80's dianasours. Couple that with putting on a few hundred hours a year and stuff wears out. The bright side is any dummy can refurbish these combines if he isn't afraid of getting dirty and wants to work for a living. |
