If I were to start back up farming again today, which I I’m not, I’d buy a pair of the same machines, say 9770’s or 7010’s. Plenty around with 3000/2000 hours. Go completely through both from day one. One breaks down, have a spare to run in the interim. These machines have become pretty reasonable on auctions. Take the savings and buy top notch heads.
I wouldn't do the 7010, it has some unique parts. 7120 would be good but you could probably find a nice 8120 or 8230 for about the same price. Have they gotten to where they can keep the shaker pan in a 9770? A friend switched to Claas after 9770's. Agree totally with the top notch heads. A awesome head can make a 'meh' combine seem pretty great
