| Boone & Crockett - 6/29/2024 16:30 If I were to start back up farming again today, which I I’m not, I’d buy a pair of the same machines, say 9770’s or 7010’s. Plenty around with 3000/2000 hours. Go completely through both from day one. One breaks down, have a spare to run in the interim. These machines have become pretty reasonable on auctions. Take the savings and buy top notch heads.
Lot to be said for this idea. Or, partly where I landed at current approach is having sticker shock looking at what it would take to trade up about four series of combines, just coming off of three terribly wet springs, and having 20 yield maps from some farms, was talking to a good buddy with similar situation and said you know, for what it would cost to trade combines I could buy a tile plow, a hoe, and a dirt scraper and start fixing things that will make the payment on some future combine. And that's really pretty close to how the monies worked out. |
