Yah, I think you're kind of missing this one South Dak. You can buy puts or calls to be on either side of the market. But selling them outright is the other side of the transaction. And it really is akin to taking a straight futures position. Your losses can be unlimited. But those who sell them probably win most of the time. Especially the ones sold way out of the money.
I despise buying options.....but
