China could do it... and probably will do it eventually. They are probably part of the big short right now. But if they unloaded their shorts and then announced a large purchase while going long (just business as usual for them) the other funds left holding the bag would get squeezed pretty hard. Farmer may think its funds vs farmer but really its the whales vs the guppies and the farmers are just the pawns on the board.
