Hooker Twp,Ne | Father’s Day hail storm. I had corn that was starting to tassel. Storm came through around noon. Half hour later had nothing but 6” high corn stocks. Crop ins adjuster rode with me in pickup. All he could say- No need to get out of pickup- ZERO. Had one farm that missed the hail. Windows out of our house and out of rental house. Hail still piled up against the north side of house 24 hours later. Had some new crop corn and beans contracted. Been better off if I wouldn’t had that year. Replanted some beans after July 5th. Late fall freeze and they made 30 bu/ acre. When all said and done and between fed crop ins check and crop hail ins check and gov had a fsa program that fall it turned out to be a fairly good year. However with a lot of headaches first. | |
