With 300 acres, you are right on the cusp of... one planter / split row, versus two planters. Like you, I'm a one man show. I'm up to 600 acres now, and would not have it any other way; That is, two planters. (I went to two planters at the 300 mark). Yep, another capable tractor, probably needed.

My progression: one 6/11 machine. Then added a 12/31. Set up for beans only. Sold 6/11 and purchased a 12 row dedicated to corn., 3 or 4 years later.
Never looked back. Both my machines needed TLC, but I was willing to do that.

I'm tell'n ya, changing over multiple times during the season drove me nuts. "out of corn ground now" convert to beans. Finished that up, convert back to corn. Geez, flooded some beans out, convert back to beans! On & On. Nope, I'm lazy, jump in which ever rig the day calls for!
