9 feet? Pretty wild story. Wd be below your line of site sitting in the combine seat. Good grief, you cd practically jump up and touch a wire that low and the wire owner is liable for your death or injury. I doubt they wd expose themselves like that.
At 9 feet there isn't even a question of who's at fault. There is no code in the US that allows that.
As far as "getting out of tearing it down" the wire owner is not brain dead.
Only 1 of 2 people is responsible for tearing the wire down:
The farmer who farms the field.
His custom cutter.
