Your analysis forgets the reason ethanol needed govt intervention to expand in the first place, oil companies don't like ethanol because they make money by selling oil. Unless the Dems put a more moderate middle of the road candidate for President on the ballot I don't see any hope for ethanol. Biden's delusion is to continue to eliminate all fossil fuels if he gets re-elected. Trump has reportedly been making deals with the oil companies, the best case scenario in that case is that the oil companies try to kill off the ethanol industry and then buy the facilities for pennies on the dollar.
