Subject: RE: An odd question for this time of year ,

I spent a night outside at -11F. Had a -40 bag and a sleeping pad. Was very comfortable. Colder rated bags are heavier generally, so if you're backpacking, there's a tradeoff between being cozy and lugging extra weight around. I have a 20 degree bag I take into the mountains where it will get down around freezing at night. Frost is not uncommon even in the summer months at high elevations.
