| Sadan or sorghum of any kind seems like it’s always high in nitrates here in Colorado. We have grown it sence it came out. I’d say it needs a good 15 inches of rain. Our usual 5 inches doesn’t cut it most years. We feed it 33% Sudan, 33% hay millet, 33% alfalfa in lactation. That Sudan comes in the 4-6% protein, no energy and high in nitrates. It’s worse off than cornstalk bales. I would feed corn stocks if they weren’t $120 a ton these days and $18 a bale of grind. | |
