Northeastern Pa. | I'm going through the same thing and have an appointment with an attorney at the end of the month. I'm thinking of doing what Jdel said. Leave the farm to one family member and splitting the money if any left by then to the rest. Most people don't realize the work and money involved on just upkeep even without farming the land. I have to farm to pay for the upkeep. Families just don't want to talk about it but say don't sell or I'll be mad. I just don't want a nursing home or the State to get it. I'm the 4th generation and probably the last to farm on this farm. I accept that and fully understand it. It's not an easy subject to deal with because family situations change and throws another kink in things. Good luck and hope it all comes together for you. | |
