"Perfect" is certainly not 2012, however- I don't think there is a faster-paced growing season.

So:   Illinois reached 80% planted on May 26, 2024.

        Illinois was nearly there, 79% planted, April 29, 2012.

        Illinois was 46% silking July 1, 2012.  77% July 8.
