Holly Hill, SC
Those bushings are about 1/8" thick. Shaft will wear through and wear into the cast iron. When checking for play sometimes the rear side will have crud packed between the bushing and the shaft making it appear as though there isn't much wear when there actually is a lot. Last year we pulled all 6 of our rows and replaced bushings and seals. Had to replace two of the hex shaft/gears. Also had to weld and die grind 4 of the holes to accept the new bushings. I figure if I am going to pull the large hex drive shaft I might as well rebuild all the rows including the needle bearings and seals at the bottom where the large hex shaft goes through.
The front half of the gear box can be removed in place on the tool bar to replace the two bearings and seal.
