Bow Island, Alberta | Mostly spring wheat, barley, canola and peas. Other crops can probably be grown successfully as well, but distance from markets may be an issue. The growing season would be quite short compared to southern Alberta, but probably not much different than central Alberta. The very long days in the summer make up for some of the shorter frost-free period. For example, today the sun rose there at 4:26 am and sets at 9:50pm this evening. It can get quite warm in the summer, the forecast highs for most of this week are 29-32*C (84-90*F).
