Line from filter or pump (can’t remember which) that runs up to engine gets porous and starts attracting dust. Air gets in and lets fuel drain down when combine sits up.

Solution, when it’s been sitting a while, turn key on and then manually pump the plunger on the lift pump on the side of the injection pump until you feel more resistance and you’ll hear fuel opening a check valve in injection pump as you push plunger down. Crank engine…….it should start pretty quickly.

I have a 9400, so it's probably a little different.

Does he have to use the plunger on the lift pump? I just turned on the key and cracked open the bleeder on the fuel filter when the hose on mine was leaking.
