Subject: RE: Corn Fungicide

SW Iowa
I'll start by saying yes I sprayed every acre this year. In the last 5 years, I used to sell multiple fungicide brands and have seen the rise of tar spot over thousands of acres. I previously took the approach of treating only certain varieties, field by field, which I still say is a very good practice. Every brand of genetics and their hybrids each have different responses to fungicides. The big P hybrids seemed to always respond was also a common rule. Secondly even with all that info I would spay only half of multiple fields and compare in SMS. I never got a less than 7-bushel response and always wished I sprayed the whole thing. With that information and the earlier timing of tar spot in my area plus having a very wet year so far it will pay to protect those bushels for me in my area with the genetics I am planting. As always it doesn't add bushels to your acre it protects the ones you have worked to build.
