If you drive from Anchorage to Fairbanks you will go right by Denali Park. Take a bus tour there. I don’t think you can drive in on your own.
From Fairbanks, drive southeast to Tok then back towards Anchorage. You make that drive and you will have driven 80% of the highways in Alaska.
You’ll want to see the Alaskan pipeline. Should find it around Fairbanks fairly easily. There are river boat tours on the Tanana river at Fairbanks.
You could drive to Valdez to see the oil terminal. That area is like a rain forest.
As you drive you will see tall trees and stunted smaller trees. The smaller trees are probably over permafrost so the roots are not sufficient to support a taller tree.
Also, another interesting thing you will notice is dips in the highways. Usually means the asphalt is warming the permafrost below and the highway sinks. Some places they have put 20 feet of asphalt to fill in where the highway has sank.
