Subject: RE: Drain in front of building

North Mississippi Delta / Alabama Gulf Coast
I built up the pad for my pole barn to a height that would keep it dry, I thought.
The first 6”+ rain took forever to drain off and stayed wet for a week.
I started on the side furthest away from a ditch at 8” depth (4”pipe covered by 4” rock) and lowered the ditch 2” per side to get all the way around the shed, 40x60.
Connected all that pipe and covered with stone to form a French drain encircling the shed.
I used solid pipe along the drive to get it in a drainage ditch and not kill the couple big trees between shed and ditch.

Silting is a problem but it is minor compared to the mess standing water on flat ground creates.
