Subject: RE: Wiring up generator

If it's 3 wires then it's 240v. If there is any 120v requirements then it needs a 4th wire for neutral. We can get into hacked wiring and code violations to reason why it could have 120v also on a 3 wire cord. A 3 wire 240v supply certainly can have 120v components internally just the same as it can have 24v controls internally - it would simply have a 240 to 120v transformer in the chassis.

The full load rating of the generator is basically double the running current of the cooler so shouldn't be a problem starting it. The plug rated at 42 amps is a good thing to note. A generator could be capable of 42 amp but some generators don't have all the power available at the 240v plug, rather they have it such that the overall output maybe 42A but that includes some power only available at 120v plugs.

Run two hots and ground to generator plug and should be fine.
