Nutritionist now going over every ration on the farm and no “well feed this here because we have lots of it”.
Pre-fresh/transition cows get a surprisingly large amount of grain (about 10 pounds(don’t ask the blend of what it’s composed of))with about the worst hay we can usually grow or find. Cows also get a pound of mineral a day.
At calving mature cows get 2 calcium boluses. Almost no RP’s DA’s or MF’s.
Rumination collars probably help find ketosis before it gets bad. | |
