Subject: RE: Wiring up generator

Caraway, AR

Not trying to hijack the thread but: I have installed a 24KW Generac  w/auto transfer switch for my house. The house was wired in such a way that it has two separate panels with the gen only going through one of them.

The gen won't run the ac unit.....when the ac tries to start the gen pulls down a little and about a second later the ac kicks out without starting.

House amp draw on the gen circuit is thus:

House amp draw without air on: L1 2.8   L2 5.2

With ac  on                                     L1 17.8  L2 18.8

Start AC                                          L1 124.8  L2 109.7

Tag on Ac unit is  compressor 21.8RLA, 117 LRA

Fan is 1.2RLA

Do you think one of these devices you have linked to would help the compressor draw less amps and let the generator start the AC unit?

The Generator was professionally installed b y a well qualified electrician who has installed around 50 of these generac units.

Thanks,

John
