We always buy it since we get hail almost every year. Have changed every steel and shingle roof on the farm 2 times since 2009 (well into 6 figures each time). As far as crops go hail can really wipe you out so we buy it but be prepared for BS. "The hay will come back, won't hurt the corn one bit. oats can take it" and so on.

Yes the hay will come back after getting chopped up but you just lost one cutting at least and even moderate hail damage drastically lowers hay quality because the stems look like brush. The corn will look fine but it will be stunted and yield much less. Keep a close eye on the policy writers and let them know if you are not happy.
