I have seen some very well made equipment that seems like it is welded all around swell and crack when it freezes , all it takes is a pinhole in the weld caused by slag or escaping air when welding that gets missed., wasps may be an issue, but can also leave a short narrow crack in lowest pint of the joint, water can get out but wsps cannot get in.
