I don't know why either. It is really inexpensive relative to other nutrients, but it also possibly explains the results. The soil tightened up, went anaerobic/acidic and tilling added oxygen and water that wasn't able to penetrate.

My guess is he knew this would happen, and he is trying to bash no till. I'm not sure why he would do that though. It doesn't help anyone. It is like watching one of those videos of stuff that is fake or intentional misleading. I watched one like pouring cement sidewalks, the guy completely intentionally botched, and at the very end he admitted he did it all wrong.
There are a bunch of fake videos. You see then more in gardening though.
