Hi Jim.
We did similar, set the corners, pull top wire tight and use it as a guide for posts. This works fine, until the land isn’t level. This piece was a rectangle, so perimeter on 320 acres.
Some fence contractors here just get a survey done and pound posts off the survey line. I saw an Australian company that makes a nice fence line laser.
