Get a helicopter if you go air. They get right down and shave the crop beans or corn and do a much better job around trees and power lines. If you have a 50 ac field they will get 49.7 ac where a plane would get 45 of the 50. No fault of the operator just a difference in aircraft ability and speed. Plus the rotor wash really opens up the canopy and flushes chemical down into the lower leaf levels where diseases like to run rampant. Ground rigs though will give you better coverage for cheaper
Couldn't disagree with you more. Until I bought my Hagie we would have a helicopter do our wheat fungicide. IMO, they have way poorer coverage than even the plane. Yes, they can get close, but the spray pattern is horrible. You can't really see in corn or beans but wheat when golden shows exactly what has been sprayed and what has been not. Every year we could see streaks in between passes and you could see big sections where the wind blew it over to half the pass before and so on. Yes, the blades blast it down in canopy but it's not just down it went sideways as much as down. I had a video for a while that I was in line with him when he started applying going away from me if you saw the video you'd probably never hire a helicopter again. Coverage absolutely was horrible, and the wind was not blowing very much.
