Subject: Disconnecting a freezer compartment on a freezer fridge combo

20 Miles West of Indianapolis Indiana
We have an older whirlpool fridge in our garage and I think I FUBAR’ed the freezer door. It was froze and I tried forcing it open. I’m letting it thaw now, but I feel confident I’ve ruined the door to where it won’t seal.
I can’t find a way to shut off the freezer without shutting off the whole fridge easily. Can I insure or disconnect something on the freezer part to keep using the fridge part?

I’m no electrician so bear with me if someone offers help!
