Kalona, IA

I have 5 gauges all in the same 6" area. All slightly different shapes. The tapered ones are generally several tenths less. Depends a lot on how much wind comes with the rain. The round gauge usually has the most in it and I go by that as I figure it's most likely the most accurate and it makes me feel better during dry times! ;) They can be up to .5" difference in a 2" rain. Now the rai can be very spotty at times as our neighborhood had a pop up storm the other day that dropped .7" on me to 1.3" a mile south of me but the road was dry 1/3 of a mile west of me and it rained for 20 minutes!! 1 mile west of me they said it only sprinkled a little. Of course I'm trying to combine oats and currently we are plenty wet so ...... wouldn't have minded it NOT raining so hard and lodging my oats even worse. Also NEED to get my organic beans cultivated 1st time! Were planted a Mo. ago already.

On the flip side the corn is loving it and it's hard to turn down rain in July!
