Subject: Drying corn…

West
Have a white corn contract this year. Have a question.

Contract calls for max stress cracks of 20%. I have a batch dryer. Have been told that I can still start picking around 21-24% and can still very easily still run through batch dryer, and be under the 20% stress crack limit.

My thoughts…. Instead of running 200-210 degrees like I do normal corn. I’ll simply turn the dryer down to 110-130 degrees.

Yes it’ll be slower
Yes it’s not as efficient
Yes it will take a longer time.

But, as long as I don’t cook the crap out of the corn I should be fine shouldn’t I? Or are there other steps I need to be thinking about?
