On the lift cylinders of a tele there is a valve on the end of the cylinder that the hoses hook to that requires pressure to open the valve to allow oil in and out of the cylinder, so the only way it will fail is if the cylinder itself has a malfunction, takes the hose out of the equation.
Always wondered why lift cylders on combines werent like that.
