Yes, the two step process is take a 12v wire from battery to the small terminal on solenoid that the key would normally energize. If it starts then your problem is the 12v supply through key and various interlocks. If it doesn't turn over then you need to suspect solenoid so take a booster cable from battery to main stud on back of starter. If it still doesn't crank then starter motor is the issue.
