Subject: Some thoughts and ideas for using the Integra

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I believe I understand your present setup in general. You are using a Versa connected to an Ag Leader Application rate module connected with a serial cable to a Raven controller. The Raven controller actually controls the PWM hydraulic valve on the tractor (more commonly mounted on the implement) in both situations.

The Versa has the ability to communicate with the Raven via the serial cable. This allow you to set the fertilizer or planting rate by entering in the desired rate with your fingers on the Versa or by means of an Rx file on a memory stick in the Versa. The Application Rate module "sends" any change in rates to the Raven Rate 1 register. The Raven then attempts to adjust the hydraulic flow to attain the new rate. The Raven returns results back to the Versa so it can display various maps and display the results.

Your newly acquired Integra can do this also and should drop right in without changing anything.

However you wish to clean this up a bit in the newer tractor and eliminate the need for the Raven to be involved. This would be possible with the addition of various Ag Leader modules and cables. The Ag Leader Application Rate module would not be needed and could be put on the shelf as well as the Raven. The Application Rate could be useful in other situations such as monitoring spray or fertilizer but I will leave that out of this discussion. For now just put the Application Rate Module aside.

With both the planter and spreader revised layouts, some method of entering your inputs as far as sections, products etc. is needed. This can be done one of two ways.

One method is to use a "dumb" switch box connected to Ag Leader's Auxiliary Input Module. The module plugs into the system via the round 4 pin connector that Ag Leader uses. The switch box would have several switches on it with a cable that connects to the Auxiliary Input Module. The two devices are separate with the module typically mounted in an out of the way location and the switch box easily in reach.

Another method would be to use Ag Leader's SC110 CAN switch box. This is essentially the Auxiliary Input Module circuitry and the switches all in one enclosure. It connects to the CAN bus with the 4 pin round connector.

You would use one or the other of the above but never both in the same vehicle. They are functionally equivalent. Depending on the situation, one might be a better fit than the other.

You would likely need Ag Leader's Spinner Module for the fertilizer situation. This is a black box with various connectors. Like all modules it connects to the CAN bus with the 4 pin round connector. It has inputs for the shaft sensor which currently goes to the Raven. It has an output for control which can be set to PWM. This would connect to your PWM valve instead of the Raven. The Spinner Module also has provisions for monitoring/controlling the speed of the spinner if so equipped and desired.

You would likely need Ag Leader's Hydraulic Drive Module for the planter situation. Again it connects to the Ag Leader CAN bus. It has inputs for the seed shaft sensor and outputs to control the speed of the PWM valve that ultimately runs the planter. It also has an implement switch port so planting will stop when the planter is raised.

You mention population monitoring. This could be done with an Ag Leader Seed Tube Monitoring Module (STTM). This would take the place of your standalone population monitor. It needs an adapter cable to mate with your existing population monitor cable from your current planter seed sensors.

Yet another aspect of planting could be section control. The Ag Leader Clutch Control Module and row or section clutches would get involved with this concept. The Clutch Control Module has the ability to shut off sections or rows when encountering areas that have already been planted. This would require individual row or sections clutches which are controlled electrically.

The 3 modules involving the planter and seed are independent in a sense. You could have any or all of them in any combination. Personally I use a STTM for population monitoring and a Clutch Control Module for section control but still use ground drive so I do not have a hydraulic control module. My population is set by sprockets in the ground drive transmission. The Ag Leader STMM monitors my population and my Clutch Module controls 12-2 row sections.

You mention that your newly acquired Integra has the Multi-product unlock. This would allow you to set up the planter as a split planter under certain circumstances. In general for your situation it would not be necessary although having it doesn't hurt anything. If you were using the Ag Leader system to work with seed, spray and fertilizer such as I do, then the Multi-Product unlock would be required.

You may be thinking that there should be a way to eliminate the need for the Spinner Module for fertilizer and the hydraulic drive for the planter since the underlying concepts are the same of using a shaft sensor as an input and a PWM control as an output. After all that is what you have been doing with the Raven in the middle of things. I suppose with some rather confusing and fairly complex mathematical juggling this might be possible but the likelihood of a well working system is rather slim in my opinion. The spinner module and its setup are designed to work with that situation. The planter hydraulic drive and other modules are designed to work with planting items.

Hopefully this has helped explain some of the various combinations that you could pursue. You have many choices which can easily get confusing. Some of the items you might be pursuing may be available on the used market. The interconnecting cables can be another confusing issue since there are many combinations.
