Western Oregon | I have been going through it the last year. First was to pull 3 teeth, 2 on top and 1 bottom in January. 6 teeth left on top and 2 implants. The implants messed up the 6 remaining teeth, they got loose and it was poisoning my system. Had to have implants removed and bone work done June 1 after other problems that put off the procedure. Bone came from hip. Denture was put in 1/2 hr after extraction to hold everything in place. Pretty much liquid first week, then soft foods for rest of month. I have had 2 soft relines. All along the "final" reline was to happen 8 mos after extraction. He said middle February. I went in 3 weeks ago for third (final) soft reline and I am now having facial pain from the tightened liner and pressure causing sores. Very tender gums chewing foods that I have been eating for 3 mos. Still no hard or chewy foods. I thought everything had gone so well. I will not do the final reline until problems are fixed. I see him 3 days a week for fit, he removes some material at pressure points. One big sore is like a blister, gum flap has not reattached to the new bone. I sure would have hated all this time if I was just getting my denture now. I have always had very sensitive mouth. I got kicked by a horse right in the mouth when I was 8, lost 3 teeth, broke lower jaw in 2 places. I lost 3 more upper teeth that were loosened, over the years. My Dad had to have all the teeth pulled he had left at 73 because they were poisoning his system and had full instant dentures. I am 68. I had a partial made at the same time on the bottom, 7 of my own, very healthy front teeth. I also had polio at 7 that affected my permanent molars. Odd number of roots and poor calcium structure and enamel. Lots of cavities right at gums. There was no way I could have worn my bottom partial after my upper teeth were pulled, without the upper denture....James | |
