South Georgia | I suppose I just don't see my display any differently than the acre computer, the ECU, the tractor itself. I don't expect it to just expire and be tossed in the trash in 20 years. I realize my 2600 hasn't stopped working, but not being able to assign the crop year is a frustrating loss of function.
Do you foresee one day where some sort of minor issue like this will cause the tractor to no longer operate? Suppose a Y2K type issue caused an essential controller in a 4R 410 to stop functioning in 2035. Suppose this issue resulted in a loss of some function, maybe the PTO would no longer come on. Would you expect Deere to issue an update to resolve the problem?
I have invested in Deere equipment because they have supported their older equipment with continuity of brand and good parts availability. I think this has added a lot of value to used Deere equipment over the years, and supported a secondary and tertiary used market. This has made it a lot easier for farms to buy new equipment if the choose to. I guess I see that slipping and it concerns me. | |
