Subject: RE: Ag Leader Markers

NW Ohio
I appreciate everyones suggestions...
I do farm drainage for a living... I know, everyone says Map while you install. We have auto steer in the plow, but we do grade control with a laser (we are in flat land, set up one laser in the morning and we can install 30-40k feet that day without ever moving it. Also, there are a lot of things I can't collect when I map during install, Like the old tile for example. Most years I spend march probing fields when it is too wet to tile (but hopefully when it's just dry enough to see the tile drying up in the field). I record all of the tile I find and can make a different layer for plastic, clay, or cement 4 inch tile and the same with mains. I can not collect that data with my plow... not feasible. I need a reliable way to collect the data I need, be able to visually see what the points represent, and be able to find those points again.

Driving up and down every string we install is too time consuming. If I wanted to I could use my auto steer coverage lines and load them up, but there are some small details I would have to work out on that as well...

Someone mentioned Farmworks mobile, and that is fine and it does work, until you want to go out into the field to set flags on all of the plastic tile but every point on your map (plastic, clay, cement) is the same color and shape. the program I use gives me a different point (different combinations of color and shape) so I can easily see what each point is if I have to go back out to the field and set flags. Unless a newer version of farmworks/trimble mobile or SMS mobile would do better, it has been a while since I've tried either one of them...

I'm probably being too picky, and I think I ask something about this about every winter lol

I have a phone call scheduled with esri next week, maybe they will have something. I will play with ag leader's features. I think there is potential there as long as I can reliably get back to that exact point in the future...
