swmn | Ill add to what he said about the butchering. Most around here that raise freezer pork are around 1.50 to 1.75 lb hanging weight and processing is on the buyer. For those that do it they get locker appointments set up and deliver to the locker, the rest is on the buyer. A down payment isn't a bad idea. Seems to be no shortage of buyers here at least
Edit to add i do know of a couple guys charging 2.25 to 2.50 and they don't have a problem getting them sold but that seems kinda high to me
