I agree. I read the blurb about them being built from war surplus generators etc and never thought about the appearance of the welder in the picture!

I learned to weld with a MARQUETTE farm welder I think it was called. Had a lot fewer combinations of sockets for the leads to plug in and was definitely AC

It did have a dedicated socket for the ground lead.
