EC Nebraska
There's a shallow ditch behind me in that picture. It could probably be cleaned out to some degree, but not a lot. It's not my ground, and it wouldn't drain that last 6-10" of water off mine anyway. That is where the excess water goes when there's a foot or more of water standing on my ground.

The original wetland determination is from before I bought the ground, so, yeah, long past any appeal.

There's a larger basin on the other side of that field that is also classified as "farmable wetland", but absolutely no drainage manipulation has been done there. It was farmed prior to 1985, and the ruling that came down is that we can continue whatever was done prior to 1985.

Liming has improved the natural soil infiltration enough so that we can usually get a crop off most of it, but that often involves at least one replant.

A good fracking would help, but for some reason the local hardware store doesn't sell dynamite anymore.
